Lake Titicaca

Most people think that Lake Titicaca is the Highest Navigable lake in the world. At 3820m it the Air is certainly thin but there are many lakes at over 4000m such as Lake Junin in Peru's central Andes. Lake Titicaca is widely believed to be the world's highest simply because it has frequent pasenger boats and is better known than other higher lakes.

The Lake is over 170km in length, is the largest lake in South America and the largest lake in the world above 2000m and has borders with Bolivia.
